Online Advertising Gone Mad?

These are strange times we live in. First Alex Tew, a student in the UK, started the Million Dollar Homepage with the aim of selling 1,000,000 pixels as advertising space for $1 ea, thereby making US$1,000,000. Now with $999,000 sold Alex has resorted to auctioning off the last 1000 pixels to the highest bidder on eBay!! At the time of writing, the going price is $23,200!
